Delegate a task to an agent

Enable agents, create an agent, set a task with a budget and follow the change set.

Status: available updated 2026-10-28

When you need it

You need to turn text into a diagram quickly, or split a selection into cards, without doing it by hand.

Before you start

  • Agents are enabled in the organisation: an administrator does that.
  • You have edit permission on the board.
  • A provider key is configured: otherwise the task ends with the AI_NOT_CONFIGURED error.
  • For the cards skill, select the objects first: without a selection the task creates no cards.
  • One task handles up to 500 objects in batches of 50.

Steps

  1. In the organisation open Agents and create an agent. Result: the agent is active.
  2. On the board open AI agents and choose the agent.
  3. Set a task: choose the Diagram from a description or Cards from a selection skill, describe the result and set a budget. Result: the task is in the queue.
  4. Wait for the task to finish. Result: the status is "applied", and the objects are on the board.
  5. If the task is large, open the change set: progress is visible, and it can be stopped and resumed.
  6. For the Diagram skill, check the journal: a row with the task, tokens and cost. The Cards skill runs without a model and writes no journal row; its trace is the agent-write audit record.

Check

  • The objects on the board match the description.
  • For the Diagram skill the journal has a record of the task, and the chain can be verified.
  • For the Cards skill the audit has an agent-write record.
  • If the board has a webhook configured, an event about the created objects arrived.

Common mistakes

Symptom Cause
AGENT_DENIED the owner lacks permission, agents are off, or the skill is not allowed
BUDGET_REQUIRED the task has no budget
The task waits in the queue the limit of concurrent tasks is reached
No cards are created no objects are selected, or there are more than 500

Where to go next

Agents: principal and budget — why a task works exactly this way.
