When you need it
You need to discuss an object or a point on the board without moving the conversation to a chat. The comment stays next to the place it belongs to.
Prerequisites
- You are signed in and have access to the board.
- Your role is Commenter, Editor, Co-owner or Owner.
Steps
- Click Discussion or the 💬 pin on the canvas. Result: a panel with the thread list.
- Click New comment. If an object is selected, the thread is anchored to it; otherwise to the centre of the view.
- Enter the text and send it.
- Open a thread to read replies. Resolve closes it; a reply opens it again.
- The author may delete their own comment; a board manager may delete any.
Check
- Threads, replies and pins are still there after a reload; a pin sits on the object or point.
- Deleting an object does not delete the thread.
- The Commenter role writes in the discussion but does not change objects.
- A link visitor does not see the discussion.
In presentation and export
- In presentation mode the pins show comments of the current slide; the panel opens as usual.
- When exporting PNG/PDF, enable Include comments: a thread list appears below the board and numbered pins on the objects. Resolved threads are not printed.
Limits
- Comments are online; a reply draft is kept, sending waits for the network and says so.
- One anchor per thread; no nested threads.
- Mentions and notifications are not in v1.
- PNG/PDF include only open threads and at most three messages per thread; the full text stays in remo.
